Dear Mr. President, Thank You.

Dear Mr. President,

I’m just a rural American woman from a tiny town in the smallest populated state in the union. Some may perceive my love and support for you as ignorance but I have witnessed the good you’ve done. Your dedication to the American people for the past 4 years does not go unappreciated or unnoticed.

Because of you and your administration, my cousin returned safely home from his deployment. He is also still alive, despite the fact he was a first responder Army Medic during the missile strikes in Iran. I firmly believe if it wasn’t for you and your amazing administration, the missile strikes would have resulted in casualties of our soldiers. Possibly my own family.

Not only did you keep us from war on multiple occasions and protected our military, you also fought for our veterans by signing the VA Choice Act and VA Accountability Act. You expanded telehealth services for our veterans, along with same day urgent clinics, mental health care and walk-in clinics.

Because of you, oilfield workers and their families were able to breathe easier knowing we had a President in office who backed the energy industry. My family included.

Since we are talking about energy, you increased our coal exports by 60% securing more jobs for families nationwide. Again, my family included.

Thanks to you, the Little Shell Tribe in Montana was finally federally recognized. As someone who is married to a Little Shell Native and raising our Little Shell children, I cannot thank you enough. It doesn’t change the hardships the Little Shell Tribe has faced but it does give us all hope for a better future.

Mr. President, thank you for creating over 4 MILLION more jobs for Americans, bringing the unemployment rate to a historical low. Lowest in 49 years. Oh and how can I forget that the unemployment rate for women has not been this low in 65 years.

Thank you for cutting taxes with the biggest package of tax cuts in history. As a small business owner and 5th generation entrepreneur, my gratitude for this runs deep. I witnessed you not just protect the American Dream but fight for it too.

Under your administration, the FDA approved more affordable generic drugs than ever before in history. You and your administration also reformed Medicare, saving seniors hundreds of millions of dollars in 2020 alone. With loved ones on Medicare who live on a tight budget, I know first hand the importance of this.

Speaking of drugs, you also secured $6 billion in NEW funding to fight the opioid crisis that has plagued our nation. Unfortunately, I have lost too many friends due to opioid overdoses, so I am grateful that we had a President not just recognize the crisis but actually do something about it.

These are only a few of the MANY accomplishments you should be proud of that occurred under your presidency.

Mr. President, your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed. I have watched for years as the media would highlight your faults but I know off camera, you had many sleepless nights as you made tough decisions to better America for all Americans. You fought and I know you will continue to fight for the American people, even the ones who celebrate your concede.

Your term wasn’t an easy one filled with golf trips or red carpets but was filled with sleepless nights, sacrifices and stress. Your term was also filled with division, turmoil and a pandemic. I truly believe you did the best you could while not infringing on American’s rights. We must remember that one man can’t fix all our issues just like one man isn’t to blame. You upheld the constitution, brought light issues that have been swept under the rug and accomplished amazing things during your time as President.

Despite what the media may say, your predecessor has big shoes to fill. I will pray for him like I prayed for you. I am clinging to hope with an uncertain heart for what the future of America holds but can sleep a little easier knowing what good you brought to the American people.

Regardless of how Americans are feeling watching the torch being passed, we are grateful for your sacrifices and service to our great nation. You are a true patriot to the people.

I wish there were better words to express my gratitude for you but all I can say is…

Mr. President, thank you.

Sincerely,

A Proud American
